| What is ESPRESSO: Espresso,
Italian for “express”, is technically a cup of coffee made using 1.35 ounces (40
cm³) of coffee, prepared using a specially-developed quick method so it can
be made fresh every time using exclusively water and finely ground roast coffee.
For most coffee aficionados, espresso is associated with superb quality
coffee and the enjoyment of this wonderful drink. Originally developed
in Italy, the espresso method is the most common method of coffee preparation
in many coffee houses in Vienna and is widely popular throughout the world.
Estimates suggest that 25 billion cups of espresso are consumed each year
worldwide. Espresso enjoys so much popularity among coffee drinkers because, unlike
drip-brew coffee, it must be made and served fresh. The espresso experience
is highly focused on the moment – espresso is enjoyed in porcelain in the café
and, to the satisfaction of connoisseurs, the taste lingers on after the last
sip, just like fond memories. | |
