| There are two basic coffee varieties:
Coffea arabica, commonly called Arabica, and Coffea canephora, commonly
called Robusta. Each variety has several subspecies that have various
names depending on the country of origin. Arabica contains around 1.3%
caffeine, significantly less than Robusta, which can contain more than 4%.
Arabica coffee is much more subtle and delicate in taste, while Robusta is
full-bodied, earthy and sometimes intense. When selecting espresso,
take note of the Arabica content. High quality espresso contains mostly or exclusively
Arabica beans. In creating the perfect espresso, we take great care
in selecting the finest Arabica beans most suited for espresso. We choose
green coffee varieties lower in acidity which quickly release flavors to water
during espresso method preparation. | |
