Chicago Magazine, October 2002:
Caffeinated: Coffee roaster and retailer Julius
Meinl - for 140 years a stalwart of Vienna's Kaffeehaus
culture - plans to walz into Chicago by opening it's first
U.S. shop this month, on Southport and Addison. To compete
with Einstein Bros Bagels and Starbucks Coffee nearby, Meinl
will offer its special brand of coffee, pastries, and sandwiches
- and piped-in chamber music. In utterly un-Viennese fashion,
though, smoking is verboten.
