Traditional Vienna coffee roaster Julius Meinl opens coffee
house in Chicago. Combining the best of Vienna's coffee
house culture and exquisite products, Julius Meinl, the No
1 Vienna coffee roaster, Sunday November 10th opens its new-style
coffee house in Chicago. Julius Meinl (pronounced MY'nl) set
up his first coffee shop in the center of Vienna in 1862.
His innovative idea was to roast coffee in the shop. Before
then coffee was roasted at home on the kitchen stove and often
burnt. In the following years, Julius Meinl built his business
continually and soon became Vienna's leading coffee roaster.
The know-how of Julius Meinl, where coffee has been roasted
for more than 140 years, is reflected not only in each cup
of Meinl coffee but also in today's product philosophy: quality
and tradition together with latest production techniques.
Over the years, the Julius Meinl brand has become a well known
name in Vienna and Central Europe. No other brand is so totally
associated with traditional Vienna coffee house culture. It
is a symbol for top quality and outstanding taste. Most leading
Vienna coffee houses serve Julius Meinl Coffee. The typical
Vienna Coffee House offers a lot to everyone. People come to
meet, to read, to see and to be seen. And all come for the coffee,
which is served in many different ways.
With the opening of its first coffee shop in Chicago, Julius
Meinl brings the flair of a typical Vienna coffee house to
the United States. Our coffees, teas and jams come to you
directly from Vienna, as do the pastries for which Vienna
is famous. The new Meinl Coffee shop at Southport and Addison
on Chicago's North Side was created by Austrian company Lorenz
& Co. which specializes in coffee house interior design. All
furniture and fixtures were built in their special workshops
near Vienna and shipped to Chicago.
Come visit us and experience a new coffee house sensation.
